Chalmers University of Technology

Chalmers University of Technology is home to two campuses, 17 departments, 2,500 employees, 200 research groups and 12,000 students. With a large number of these students drawn from countries around the world, Chalmers is reputed for training almost half of Sweden’s graduate engineers and architects.

Situated in Sweden, Gothenburg, the university focuses on research and education in technology, architecture and natural science. Chalmers has been ranked in the top 75 universities for engineering and technology in the world according to the 2010 Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Founded in 1829, the university was inaugurated due to a large donation by William Chalmers. The university remained a private body till 1937 when it became a state-owned institute. Years later, in 1994, Chalmers returned to being a private institution.

Chalmers works towards a sustainable future with a vision that hopes to inspire others to adopt a more open approach to find technical solutions. The academic environment at the university is borne out of a significant relationship with industry and society in an effort to internationalise education for higher standards of teaching and research.

Chalmers Master's Programmes are closely linked to research areas of particular strength and are designed to satisfy the needs of society and industry. Our international Master's Programmes are taught in English.
