The University of Skövde offers first-class programs and competitive research which attract research scientists and students from all over the world, and now we hope that you will be one of them.

The University of Skövde is a relatively young university that has a strong focus on providing our students with the skills demanded by the labor market. We are delighted that our efforts were recognized in the results of the International Student Barometer benchmark performed by the International Graduate Insight Group with international students in 2010/2011. Among 16 universities in Sweden and about 200 universities in Europe the University of Skövde was ranked as the top one university in Sweden and the second best in Europe regarding “learning overall”. We were also rated number one in the areas of performance feedback, IT-support and living cost.

The University of Skövde has about 4 400 full year students and offers almost 700 single subject courses and some 50 degree courses. The University has only one campus, which is close to the city center and near the student accommodations. The campus also includes a large parkland area with the university restaurant forming a natural meeting point for students, staff and visitors. Internationalization is important to us and we have more than 80 partner universities in 30 countries. This offers opportunities for our students to study abroad for one or two semesters and for students from all over the world to come to Skövde and study with us. The city of Skövde has about 50 000 inhabitants and is located about an hour from Gothenburg and two hours from Stockholm, between the two biggest lakes in Sweden, Vänern and Vättern. In Skövde you are always close to everything; shops, restaurants, entertainment and beautiful nature. Skövde can proudly address themselves as European champion of entrepreneurship. The municipality has been awarded the European Enterprise Awards 2009 in cooperation with Gothia Science Park and University of Skövde. Together they have built an environment that supports development of new innovations and new growth. A great place to be for a student preparing for the future!
