University of Gothenburg

Variety and breadth are two important characteristics of the University of Gothenburg. You can study anything from Art and Design to Natural Science and Medicine here. As a matter of interest, one of the professors at the University, Arvid Carlsson, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2000.

With 50,000 students including some 25,000 full-time students, and 5,000 employees, the University of Gothenburg is one of the largest universities in Europe. In an international perspective, it is unusually comprehensive, with cutting-edge research in a number of dynamic areas, such as medical and marine research for instance. Typical for the University is its cooperation with the community and trade and industry, as well as with Chalmers University of Technology and Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

When you decide to study at the University of Gothenburg you will arrive in Sweden’s second largest city, situated by the sea and with a population of half a million inhabitants. You will find the University located in several different places in the city centre, all within walking or cycling distance, with a great number of cafés and restaurants jostling each other nearby.

Welcome to the most allround and popular University in Sweden!
